Iranian Saffron:challenges and limitations. This market has experienced a deep recession since the big price change. A lots factors cause these situation in local and international market.

Supply Side

Farmers

New crop will arrive next 3 month later in November. Although, most of the farmers meet hot, dry and lack of rain  in summer which almost affects production rate specially in Saffron farms.

Exporters and producer

Unfortunately, statistics show Iranian Saffron export have decreased %40(forty percent) since last January in 2022.

%300 percent price increase, Saffron smuggling, Foreign currency obligations of exporters have to pay to Central Bank of Iran, Custom value of Saffron export basic price these are main limitations which Iranian Suppliers face with it.

Demand side

Saffron price and Iranian economic condition have to reduce Saffron consumption in the local market and on the other hand, create a unique opportunity for other Iranian Supplier’s competitors to launch their product more easily in the international market.
